Good but not medical grade

Good but not medical grade
We needed a pulse oximeter for our new addition since our insurance wouldn't cover a $2500 medical grade one (ridiculously priced), we bought this one hoping it would meet our needs so we could leave the hospital (which probably costs more than a $2500 pulse ox sensor). This basically needs to be worn 24/7 right now and in doing so for the last 2.5 weeks, it has started to break where the sensor connects to the transceiver as shown by the photo. It's still kind of working and I need it on right now so it'll be hard to get replaced but I hope I can make it in time to do so.Note: If you buy this, try taping this gap with like an electric tape or something for extra support, that might prevent the issue.Pros:* It's pretty decent if you do not need this for any real medical condition and want to check how a newborn might perform in a car seat or a different position.* Easy to connect to* Alerts can be turned on or off and thresholds can be changed (not sophisticated)Cons:* heat is a real factor compared to the medical grade ones. The PI is very low unless the baby's foot is warm.* there is no wave form of the readouts and no mention of PI at the time of the read, just motion, which makes understanding if the read is legitimate or a false positive difficult.* the software could be improve a bit, particularly around thresholds. It would be amazing if you could set a more sophisticated alert thresholds like, below 90% oxygen for 1 minute so that it would prevent waking you up in the middle of the night. That's better than setting it to dangerously low thresholds to prevent being alerted by false positives.Overall, there's not many options for infant pulse oximeters and this one works. If you can prevent the electronics from coming apart, it would probably be a great bet. If you have access to medical grade pulse ox, this is not a substitute, but if you don't have an option, it's better than nothing.
